South Island Spring Alpine Photography Retreat

Come join us and explore the Southern Alps Broken River alpine area for an amazing landscape and nature photography retreat – this is an exploratory photography retreat as we’ve not visited this location before although the feedback we’ve had from previous photographers is the landscape is spectacular.

From the time you join us in Christchurch at 8.00am on Friday 18th October, until we return you to Christchurch Monday 21st October around 4.00pm, everything is included, lunches, dinner and breakfasts, mini-bus transport, accommodation with linen [a range of bunk rooms are available] and photography mentoring.

This photography retreat is suitable for beginners through to advanced photographers.  You’ll come away having developed new techniques and improve your photographic skills to create amazing photos in an inspiring, alpine setting.

We will be using a variety of classroom and outdoor sessions in the local alpine environment – you’ll be coached on landscape photography and how to create stunning photos with great composition. You will learn to master your gear and how to harness the power of light. There will also be an introduction to professional editing and post-production followed by printing a selection of your images on professional quality photographic A3+ paper, ready for framing.

There will be plenty of time for experimentation and developing your photographic skills. A medium level of fitness is required as we will be out and about walking across alpine landscape.

Friday – meet Lesley at Commodore Hotel at 8.00am for a 8.30am departure.  Drive to Broken River where after checking into our accommodation we’ll have an overview of the activity.  Following lunch we’ll be heading out exploring our location with our cameras

• While alcohol during the ski season can be purchased from Broken River lodges, as we’re staying out of season, please BYO

Tell Me More:

This retreat is suitable for all levels including beginners are warmly welcomed as long as you have a basic understanding of how to change your camera settings (make sure you’re camera’s manual is downloaded onto your mobile phone).   

A medium level of fitness is required; note we will be walking at times on some unstable terrain.  If you feel you could likely be unstable when walking, please bring a walking pole.

A full list of equipment will be provided closer to departure, although what camera gear you have, you’ll be able to capture some amazing images, Of course being a Capture to Print photography retreat, you’ll need to bring your laptop (Lightroom Classic installed) or tablet with Lightroom & Photoshop Mobile pre-installed, camera, a selection of lenses including a wide angle plus a telephoto lens would be ideal.  You will definitely need a tripod, UV, CPL or ND filters and a headlamp or torch.

This photography retreat is designed to enrich your photographic experience and meet fellow, like-minded women who share your photographic passion.  The retreat concludes with a processing and printing your A3+ & A4 images.

How do I book?

You can secure your place with a $500 deposit by clicking “REGISTER”, the balance payable six weeks prior to travel.

CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS APPLICABLE

• If you choose to cancel your booking, your deposit is non-refundable unless we can fill your place – we strongly recommend you take out travel insurance should you need to cancel due to illness or accident
• If we have to cancel we will give you a full refund or you can have your deposit transferred to any of our other events.
