2024 South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula

*** 7 days, 7 nights ***  How does capturing images of Yorke Peninsula’s pink salt lakes, misty mornings lake sunrises, lone trees captured on still day reflected in lakes and awesome rugged coastline sound?   You’ll also be spending time exploring historical shearing and wool sheds both inside and outside – the imagery that you can capture here is beautiful!!  May’s weather is a perfect time to visit as it’s Autumn with the beginning of frosts, cool mornings with mist and lovely calm days.

We reckon we’re really lucky to be collaborating with South Australian photographer Steph Ball (check out a selection of her images here) who will be sharing her beautiful part of Yorke Peninsula with us.  This is a small group of minimum of 6 and maximum of 10 women.

Come join us on the truely amazing seven days, seven nights “capture to print” photography retreat – we will take you on a journey of learning how to capture spectacular images through to preparing a selection of your images for printing.  Imagine the feeling of seeing your images coming off the printer – deciding where you’ll be hanging these back home once you’ve had them framed.  This photography retreat is suitable for beginners as there will be lots of 1:1 and group mentoring.

What you’ll learn:

• How to capture images which require very little processing by having your camera set to the optimal settings
• How to create high resolution multi-image panoramas (using Lightroom Classic for processing)
• How to capture and process awesome photos
• Using Lightroom (and Photoshop if you have it loaded) on your laptop or Lightroom & Photoshop Mobile on your tablet, understand the processing/editing workflow  
• Again, using using Lightroom understand how easy the print preparation workflow is – we demystify what is perceived to be a complex process 
• Lightroom & Photoshop Mobile are free to use on your tablet and downloadable from your App Store
• Lightroom Classic & Photoshop on laptop are part of the Adobe cloud based subscription. 

What’s included:

• Coach transport from time of arrival at Adelaide airport until you’re returned to Adelaide airport.  Departing Adelaide airport at mid-day (15th May), this photography retreat is timed to coincide with Air New Zealand’s direct flight from Auckland.  Returning to Adelaide airport on 22nd May to connect with outbound Air New Zealand’s return flight to Auckland departing around mid-day.  If you’re planning on arriving pre-retreat, we’d recommend staying at Adelaide Airport Atura Hotel which is connected to Adelaide Airport.
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner each day
• Warm, cosy accommodation – selection of share twin and single rooms across two properties.  The two houses are a very short walk apart   Own room is an additional $700.  Each house has one bathroom.
• Photography mentoring – multi-award winning photographer Lesley Whyte
• Local guide and photographer – Steph Ball
• Printing of at least two of your images in A3+ and secured packaged for your return home
• Women in Photography A5 photo diary.

Tell Me More:

This retreat is suitable for all levels including beginners are warmly welcomed as long as you have a basic understanding of how to change your camera settings (make sure you’re camera’s manual is downloaded onto your mobile phone).   

A general level of fitness is required; note we will be walking at times on some unstable terrain, with walks no longer than 10 minutes in duration.  If you feel you could likely be unstable when walking, please bring a walking pole.

A full list of equipment will be provided although please read what we recommend, Of course you’ll need to bring your laptop (Lightroom Classic installed) or tablet with Lightroom & Photoshop Mobile pre-installed, camera, a selection of lenses including a wide angle plus a telephoto lens would be ideal.  You will definitely need a tripod, CPL or ND filters and a headlamp or torch.

This photography retreat is designed to enrich your photographic experience and meet fellow, like-minded women who share your photographic passion.  The retreat concludes with a processing and printing your A3+ & A4 images.

With photography mentor Lesley and local photographer and Steph as our guide, this retreat showcases the best of Yorke Peninsular’s spectacular scenery.  

How do I book?

You can secure your place with a $500 deposit by clicking “REGISTER”, the balance payable four weeks prior to travel.

CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS APPLICABLE

• If you choose to cancel your booking, your deposit is non-refundable unless we can fill your place – we strongly recommend you take out travel insurance should you need to cancel due to illness or accident
• If we have to cancel we will give you a full refund or you can have your deposit transferred to any of our other events
• Full payment is due 45 days before the commencement date and is thereafter non-refundable in the event of your choosing to cancel, unless we are able to re-fill your place.
